Why Giving Back is Essential to Success

Helping Others Should Be a Priority

I have discovered in my life that I have been heavily influenced by my mother, who was really amazing. She taught my siblings and I to be generous, to be kind, and to help others. This way of being brought up was the foundation for my wanting to give back.

Giving and Receiving

As I got older and had a family of my own, I found that the more good I do; the more goodness that comes into my life. The more I serve others; the more I’m blessed with all kinds of things.

When I give to others, I might receive a blessing of a of a beautiful relationship. I might suddenly receive a financial blessing. I give thousands of dollars over here to this woman battling cancer, and then this amazing person shows up in my life for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make money with this incredible experience. I stop and give a homeless woman $40, and then I  get a huge invitation to do something that’s always been on my bucket list. Contribute more and see how your life changes!

To clarify: I don’t serve to get blessed. I just find that there’s a major correlation. Most major religions and spiritual teachings stress the importance of helping the unfortunate.

“Do three Kind Acts and don’t get found out.” – Byron Katie

For me, I try to live my life by the words of Byron Katie: “Do three Kind Acts and don’t get found out.” I find that there’s so much more power in that, because now the ego goes out of it. Now it’s totally pure; there’s no agenda, no motive. This is what we’ve got to get more people doing. We can all be light in the darkness.

So what can YOU do?

If you don’t know where to start, there are many non-profits, charities, and organizations that help people. Find something close to your own heart, or the heart of someone close to you. One of your coworkers has a child with Cystic Fibrosis, you could donate in their name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Give to your local animal shelter. You could even create your own foundation! I started the Love from Margot Foundation to help women with cancer after losing my wife, Margot, to cancer.

Money isn’t the only way you can give. If you have skills that could help a non-profit, website design, human resources, or marketing, consider volunteering your time and knowledge! VolunteerMatch is a website where you can connect plenty of places that need you.

Giving doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment. You can give in small ways – take that homeless person on the corner to get some food, walk your pregnant neighbor’s dog, or make a crying baby smile in the grocery store.

The thing is, we need to get out of ourselves. There are so many people less fortunate than us. We forget that, and those people need a hand. It doesn’t have to be money. Just help someone who is struggling. I was hoping that by sharing The Creation Frequency with the world, I could show people a better way that works. That’s really what my life is about now.
